While most of the schemes above are similar in structure, and the benefits they offer adopters, they are examples of wild animal adoptions, or supporting animals in various animal attractions or rescue centres. You can of course also adopt an animal that you can take home as a pet. Many people find unexpected litters of baby animals, move house and find they can’t take their pet with them, or sadly just abandon unwanted animals. Whatever the reasons, there are plenty of animals that would like to become a pet in a new home. Example charities which run rescue and rehoming centres include Battersea Dogs Home, Cats Protection, and the RSPCA.
